Recycling Bin Challenge 2019 – February/March Update

As you know, the purpose of the recycling bin challenge is to reduce the number of items in my recycling bin without creating new waste.

So far I have only taken out the recycling bin twice.

First on January 25th, after gathering recyclables for 25 days.

And then again on March 15th, after gathering recyclables for 49 days

As noted before, it took us 21 days / 3 weeks to fill up the recycle bin. So even though this is great news because it shows progress towards our current goal of reducing the recycling items, as you will see below we still have a long way to go.

In those 49 days, we collected 199 items, which are 100 less. (The reason why I filled up the bin with fewer items than in January is because of the size of the items.)

To understand why this challenge is relevant please check out, “Why is the Recycling Bin Challenge Relevant to Reducing Waste?”
